12 days
Our journey begins in Cacabelos. Soon we will ascend the mystical mountain pass of Cebreiro and enter the green region of Galicia, distinguished by a seemingly infinite number of small villages. Here, more than anywhere else in Spain, Celtic customs and animism have remained alive and noticeable.
We walk to Portomarín, a village that was dismantled and rebuilt in the 1960s to make way for a reservoir, leaving behind a fertile and fascinating landscape. Its two churches have been taken apart and rebuilt stone by stone in the new village.
Behind Portomarín the Camino leads us on oftentimes fairytale-like trails through medieval villages towards our final destination, Santiago de Compostela. Once there, we will have enough time to explore this beautiful city and experience its special atmosphere, to participate in the pilgrim’s mess and get our Compostela as a souvenir of this amazing journey.
Every morning, we offer a spiritual start into the day. Usually, this means that a short, interesting, and hopefully inspiring text will be read. This part is open for anybody who would like to participate.
